VTG SANKYO JAPAN MUSIC BOX MECHANISM w 4 BELLS IN LINDEN WOOD VENEER BOX-VIDEO

  

This gorgeous wood veneer music box is marked on the bottom "Linden" & is large, measuring 12" L x 7" W x 6 Tall & weighs 5 lbs. It is in excellent vintage condition, & is near flawless in its finish, except for a small reddish area on the top, & a small "bump" in the wood edging on the left edge--see Photo # 11.

The very unusual music box mechanism is that of Sankyo, & is including a mechanism that utilizes 4 large Bells that strike during the playing of its outstanding & bright, well-paced melody. When you open the lid, the music starts to play, & the playing of the lilting, happy melody is enhanced & enlivened so much with the striking of these 4 bells, plus the added attraction that you get to watch as all this mechanical activity happens makes it almost hypnotic to see! On occasion, the 3rd bell from the left will miss its striking by its hammer--however, this seems to happen much less when the music box mechanism is wound up fully to play, so that is not too noticeable & is easily overlooked when it's kept wound up. Since I cannot find an ID # or letters to identify the awesome, cheerful tune on its Sankyo music box mechanism, I'm including a VIDEO to let you hear this wondrous sound.
