Stunning Very Large Vintage 1960's Japanese Laquered clockwork Music Box / Jewellery Box. This is an exceptional box, large, unique and very rare. When opened, the music plays.

SUKIYAKI' As made famous by. Kyu Sakamoto had a massive worldwide hit with it in 1963. To listen to this being played - go to'youtube' and type in. Inside the lid is a full sized mirror and a lined cantilever tray. Either side of the central lid are two hinged lids with. The compartment to the right has another compartment underneath that accepts two large batteries ('D' size I believe). These would power the lights in the widow scene, but I have been unable to test these properly so assume that they do not work. The window scene has three backing mirrors and a twirling ballerina who spins when the music plays, there are also two water lilies as decoration. Outside is Decorated with Japanese scenes, including Mount Fuji (Please see photos).

Approx 33.5cm x 14cm x 20cm tall. Has working lock & key. Signs of use commensurate with age, but works & plays tune perfectly.
