Sorrento Octagonal Marquetry Musical Jewellery Box Plays Love Story

  
This previously owned Sorrento marquetry octagonal music box is in a really good condition. There is what appears to be a "crack" in the lacquer, see photos 1, 2 & 11. The first two photos there is a piece of fluff on the box on the left side as you look at it. There are some very small marks on the lid, on the right side as you look at it.

The key turns fully in the lock when the lid is upright and you can remove the key, when the lid is down the key turns but it doesn't seem to fully turn and you cannot remove the key. I think an adjustment needs to be made on the "catch" on the lid or possibly the lock. The music box plays Love Story. The key on the underside winds and has a S marked on it.

There are eight tiny brass or brass like legs on the underside. The red felt inside the musical Jewellery box is fluffy and marked in places. The underside has a label stating Made in Italy and a label stating Love Story.

The musical Jewellery box is approximately 8 inches(20.3 cm) in diameter. The height with the lid closed is approximately 2 1/2 inches(6.4 cm). The item has had a dry wipe over but may require an additional clean due to being in storage.
