Here is a wonderful Victorian musical jewelry box. Inlaid all around top and sides with flowers, urns, leafing, small birds and dragons. These can be seen all around the top and sides of box. The edge of the box shows a striped design on the lid and again on the feet. Beautiful inlay work, craftsmanship and artistry is upper most on this piece. You open the box to reveal a mirrored lid, unfortunately it is in poor condition, but not cracked. There are two compartments each is 1.5 deep lined on the bottom in a tufted soft blue material, the sides were painted to match. Each compartment pushes aside to reveal a larger tufted bottom compartment 1.5 deep and in the same color. There is a small 2.5 wide shelf like area to put anything there that you may choose. The box sits on curved shaped legs and there is a key on the bottom of the box to play music. This plays and has a lovely sound, the tune sounds like a waltz, but we do not recognize it. The box measures 10.5" wide corner to corner x 6" front to back x 4 5/8" high x 2" deep inside. Fortunately we have a key for this and it works perfectly.
