RARE STYLE - RHYMES 30 Note Musical Wood Jewelry Trinket Stash Box with Inlaid Wood Border and Dovetailed Corners. Plays Lara's Theme "Somewhere My Love" from the Dr. Bottom was personalized by prior owner and dated 2009. We cannot confirm date box was made but from research & experience, we believe it's older than 2009 & likely pre-2000 according to research. MEASURES : 9" long x 6" wide x 4-1/4 high. CONDITION : In very good condition overall. It has a dark grooved knot on the wood lid. It has a couple of light scratches on sides and front. Music parts wind smoothly and play beautifully. The only issue found it that the music does not stop automatically when lid is closed. It plays until wind key stops. There's a pin hole on inside lip near the screws that secure the hinge. This hole appears to line up with a wire bar protruding from music mechanism.

On Reuge music boxes, we see a wire bar that goes through a hole or a metal post that is connected to the wire bar. This makes the music stop when lid is closed by pressing down on the wire or post. We cannot say if this music box was intentionally made this way by Rhymes or if the wire piece needs some TLC. In either case, it does not hinder the beautiful music it plays nor the sophisticated beauty of this box.
