Vtg Reuge Great Composers Series Paderewski'Menuet' Swiss Solid Wood Music Box

  

This rare vintage 37 note Limited Edition Reuge collectible wooden music box was made in Sainte-Croix Switzerland during the mid century and is part of the'Great Composers' series. The visible 37-note Reuge mechanical movement in the box beautifully plays'Menuet in G', a signature piano piece written in 1887 by Polish composer Ignacy Paderowski. Paderowski was a virtuoso pianist and brilliant statesman who spoke 7 languages. The box is crafted of solid wood (it appears to be teak) and its lid is etched with musical notation from'Menuet', the song played by the musical movement.

Paderewski's signature is etched on the front of the box lid. The Reuge musical movement in the box is started and stopped by touching the small button on the front of the lid. The box measures 5 /8" long, 3 5/8" deep, and 2 3/4 tall with lid closed. A beautiful (and delightful to listen to) addition to any music box collection.
