Automaton Sand Toy Acrobat trapeze on high wire Brown & Blondin style

  

Handmade'Sand Toy' automaton, based on Brown Blondin & Co pattern acrobat, made by Laurence Fisher in 2020. Powered by super-dry sand which is captive within the case, so you'wind' it up by turning slowly clockwise, then set down and off he goes, doing his tricks of going over, swinging back and so-forth. Case of ebonised wood with card back, colour-outfit acrobat figure with articulated joints, colour curtains, fade-sepia backdrop and gilt-finished frame surround to the front. Aged effect labels to back and title label to inside front'Le Grand Trapéziste'. Not meant to deceive, but more in-keeping with the old look with that warm and cosy real-retro styling.

This is one of only two blue curtain models which have been made - all the others of the 50 are red. This is fitted with the pause-and-over movement, which can make his leg do the odd one-footed trick on the bar and the odd backwards over as well.

Comes with instruction and maintenance sheet. Glass to front is standard non-safety 4mm pane, so supervision with younger children required. As per the originals (if you can find one, they are very rare in good order), these are more for adults and families and not considered solely a child's toy. Runs for about 3 to 4 minutes.
